The New York Times Bestseller!

After decades of silence, Robyn Crawford, close friend, collaborator, and confidante of Whitney Houston, shares her story.

Whitney Houston is as big a superstar as the music business has ever known. She exploded on the scene in 1985 with her debut album and spent the next two decades dominating the charts and capturing the hearts of fans around the world. One person was there by her side through it all—her best friend, Robyn Crawford.

Since Whitney’s death in 2012, Robyn has stayed out of the limelight and held the great joys, wild adventures, and hard truths of her life with Whitney close to her heart. Now, for the first time ever, Crawford opens up in her new memoir, A Song for You.

With warmth, candor, and an impressive recall of detail, Robyn describes the two meeting as teenagers in the 1980s, and how their lives and friendship evolved as Whitney recorded her first album and Robyn pursued her promising Division I basketball career. Together during countless sold-out world tours, behind the scenes as hit after hit was recorded, through Whitney’s marriage and the birth of her daughter, the two navigated often challenging families, great loves, and painful losses, always supporting each other with laughter and friendship.

Deeply personal and heartfelt, A Song for You is the vital, honest, and previously untold story that provides an understanding of the complex life of Whitney Houston. Finally, the person who knew her best sets the record straight.

A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston is one of the most anticipated reads of 2019. I used to always say if God gave me a best friend, I would want them to be like Robyn Crawford & Gayle King. Those two have been a prime example of the word Best Friend. So when I found out Robyn was writing a book – I was shocked. Also, I knew if there were anyone that could write a book about Whitney with love – it would be Robyn. When Whitney Houston died, there were books after books written, but most of them served as a declaration of their innocence when it came to Whitney’s drug use.

Robyn Crawford has stayed quiet while the world portrayed her out to be Whitney Houston’s obsessed friend. So when the numerous people ask – “Why write a book now?” My answer to that question is, “Why not?!” If it was okay for BeBe Winans, Cissy Houston, & Bobby Brown to write a book (especially BeBe Winans – no shade) – then Robyn also deserves an opportunity to tell her story.

Robyn clears up a lot of rumors about Whitney Houston without having to go in great detail. (Sometimes less is more) – The rumors about Jermaine Jackson, Eddie Murphy, Cissy’s rumored affair with a minister, the beginning of Bobby & Whitney’s relationship, and much more.

The topic that the public seems obsessed with is Robyn & Whitney’s sexual relationship. Yes… as a fan, I often wondered if the rumor was true, but I never focused on it. Robyn Crawford cleared up every question I had when it came to their relationship. That part of their relationship didn’t sum up what they had. Robyn & Whitney were intimate on all levels. That kind of bond only comes once in a lifetime – if you are ever blessed to experience it.

I enjoyed reading about Robyn’s life because she is so much more to her than being labeled Whitney Houston’s assistant/side-chick or whatever other names their friendship was reduced to. Robyn has dealt with a lot of losses in her life.

I often heard if Robyn stayed in Whitney’s life, Whitney would still be alive. I was one of the people that believed it, but after listening to Robyn’s story – I’m not sure if I think that anymore. Every decision Whitney made was hers to make. Whitney carried a lot on her back, including supporting people that should have been taking care of themselves.

Robyn, Thank you for sharing your story with us. Anyone that has loved someone unconditionally knows that sometimes you have to let go to save yourself. We can only do so much to help someone, but ultimately the choice is up to them.

Robyn, My sincere hope for you is that you are at peace, knowing that you loved Whitney Elizabeth Houston to the best of your ability. The love you have for her is still evident in your voice and your words. I’m sure Whitney knew you loved her too.

That’s the thing about Real Love – it’s always felt in our hearts, and no one/nothing can ever take that away.

Highly Recommended!
