When They Find Me is the kind of thriller that sticks with you, not just because of the danger, but because there’s so much more going on. Underneath the suspense, the story digs into fear, survival, family, loyalty, and how far people will go to defend the truth as they see it.

Carter Wilson sets a tense mood right from the start. Expanse, Colorado isn’t just a backdrop; it’s central to the story. The town’s isolation, quiet, and the feeling that help is out of reach make every choice feel more serious. Even when the characters try to hide, there’s no escaping their emotions.

What really worked for me was how Wilson slowly peels back the layers of each character. Annie and Riven are both shaped by survival, but in very different ways. Their lives have been built around fear, protection, and the stories they have been told about the people around them. As those stories begin to collide, the book becomes less about who is hunting whom and more about what happens when everything you believed starts to fall apart.

The suspense is great, but what really made the book stand out for me was the psychological tension. There’s always a sense that something isn’t quite right. Each new detail brings more questions, and the truth is never simple. Wilson keeps you guessing about people’s motives, their relationships, and who you should feel for.

I also appreciated that the book never relied solely on shock value. The twists mattered because they changed the emotional meaning of what came before. That made the story feel more layered and gave the darker moments real weight.

When They Find Me is clever, unsettling, emotional, and full os surprises. It is the kind of thriller that keeps you turning pages because you need answers, but by the end, you realize the questions were just as important.

This is easily one of my favorite books of 2026, and it’s another reason why I’ll keep reading Carter Wilson’s work.
