moreAnthony Porter, an emerging young screenwriter and closeted alcoholic, loses faith in family and relationships after he learns of his father’s infidelity. Then he meets Essence, a woman with a college degree, her own home, and the perfect smile. Feeling like she is “the one,” he throws himself into ...
Aspiring screenwriter Anthony Porter has a “real life” story that was hard to believe yet Marc Avery brings it in this page-turner, Redemption Lost.
Anthony grows up in a dysfunctional family with a father who abuses his mother and to deal with life issues he turns to alcohol. When he meets the women who will turn his world upside down, his past will cause his world to spiral out of control.
As I read this story I had issues with all the character flaws if you will, and as I think about it perhaps Mr. Avery did a good job in that respect as I did not care for anyone in this story. I thought throughout the book that people do not talk or act this way yet I kept reading to see if I was ever going to understand “why”.
For me, the characters, the situations, and speech were not believable but with that said, some may like the dysfunctional storyline and the writing was palatable. Overall it is an interesting story.
