In this intimate memoir, actress and singer Jamie Lynn Spears tells her unfiltered story on her own terms about being a child star, becoming a teen mom, the years she stepped away from the spotlight, the terrifying ATV accident that threatened her daughter's life, and discovering the most important elements of life: love and family.

Things I Should Have Said by Jamie Lynn Spears is her opportunity to tell her truths after being a topic of conversation with the masses. I don’t keep up with what’s happening in the news with Britney Spears and her family dynamic. I’m not too familiar with Jamie Lynn Spears. The only thing I remembered about her was she is Britney Spear’s little sister who became pregnant while she was the star of a Nickelodeon show.

The timeline for Things I Should Have Said gets confusing at times, then I wondered how she could remember so much about her parent’s marriage at such an early age. But I’m sure she heard a few stories from her mother – then her experiences with her Dad later in life made it easier to relate to the stories she was told as a kid.

The book does discuss Britney and her mental stability – what Jamie Lynn witnessed. I don’t know what’s going on with Britney but we all know she’s not the same Britney we knew from the music videos.

Jamie Lynn shares personal stories about love life, career, and children. This was a quick read, and I read it in one sitting.

I commend Jamie Lynn for releasing this book – knowing the backlash she would receive from the millions of Britney Spears fans. I’m a firm believer in being able to express your truth. As we know, an individual’s truth is not for our understanding because it’s not our experience.
