Dangerously Sleepy by Alan Derickson is a detailed book that looks into how work, lack of sleep, and what society thinks about sleep have been linked in the U.S. Derickson shows how, from the 1800s to today, being awake all the time has been seen as a good thing and sleeping as something bad. This idea has been tied to being tough and manly, and has led to health problems for workers.

The book does a great job of showing the problems with working too much and not sleeping enough, but it’s written in a way that might be hard for some people to get into.

It gets a 3.5-star rating because it’s full of good information but might not be easy for everyone to read.
