Quinn Collins is awakened by the annoying sound of her roommate’s alarm clock. It seems as though her roommate is in a sound sleep because the alarm clock continues to blare throughout the household. It doesn’t help that Quinn is suffering from a hangover from the night before so the buzzing noise is adding to her frustration. No comment on the random stranger that she woke up next to in her bed. When Quinn enters the room, she finds the window opened but no sign of Esther. She doesn’t freak out because she assumes Esther got an early start to her day. When Esther doesn’t return home – Quinn begins to worry. Quinn starts snooping in her room for clues and stumble upon a few things that have her questioning if she really knew her roommate.

This is the third book I have read by Author Mary Kubica. I have to say I was prepared to solve the mystery before I got to the middle of the book. After all, I’m familiar with her style of writing – so I knew I would be able to pick up on the clues this time. WRONG!
Mary Kubica is known to write stories from different perspectives, so I was assumed there would be a back and forth with the two main characters. Then I flipped the next chapter and was introduced to Alex. At that moment, I imagined Mary sitting at the desk in her office laughing to herself while she wrote this story because she knew she would have readers trying to unravel what is going on and how would it end.
Don’t You Cry is an exciting, spellbinding, and explosive read. Author Mary Kubica has mastered the art of suspense. She simmer her words and then slowly turns up the heat until the pages begin to boil. I’m waving the white flag and surrendering my imaginary detective badge because I am once again a victim of trying to figure out the ending of a Mary Kubica book.
