I’m a fan of Grace Jones & her music but my all-time favorite memory of Grace Jones was watching her play the villain, May Day in the movie, A View to A Kill. I was 11 years old when the film was released in theaters. Grace Jones was/is a bad ass on & off the screen, and it’s still true til this day.
When I read that Grace Jones was releasing about a book about her life – I nearly jumped out of my skin. “I’ll Never Write My Memoirs” is the perfect title for Ms. Jones. Even though the book is written (as told to Paul Morley) – it reads as though Grace is talking directly to the reader.
Grace starts the book by saying, “I won’t tell all my secrets, but enough. Enough for you to think, I don’t believe you. That never happened.” Yes!!! This is the Grace Jones we all love to love because there’s no possible way you can ever hate THE GRACE JONES!!
Grace takes readers through her strict upbringing, party & drug scene, modeling world, and love affairs. I forgot she used to date Dolph Lundgren. For those who doesn’t know who Dolph Lundgren – he’s the guy that killed Apollo Creed. Well… not exactly – it was in a Rocky movie, not real life.
If you are wondering where the pop stars of today like Lady Gaga, Madonna, and etc “borrowed” their style from – look no further. Grace Jones has been blazing trails for years. Will you feel as though you know Grace Jones after reading this book. Yes & No! Grace Jones will always be a mystery to her fans – that’s one of the reasons she is loved by millions.
