Review

Rick Hoffman is down on his luck – he has lost his job as an investigative reporter, his fiancée left him, and he’s homeless. Rick has no choice but to move back to his childhood home. While preparing to do some renovations – Rick discovers over 3 million dollars in cash hidden behind a wall. Now he is faced with questions that need answers and the person that may or may not hold the answers is Rick’s father. Oh! I forgot to mention Rick’s father, Leonard has been in a nursing home for the past 18+ years unable to speak after suffering a massive stroke. Rick sets out to find the truth about this money and what he discovers will have him fighting for life.

The Fixer has a more personal feel to it compared to Mr. Finder’s previous novels. How well do we know our family? If we knew some of our parent’s secrets would that change the relationship for the good or bad? Do we understand the choices our parents made in their lives? The scenes between Rick and his father, Leonard left me heartbroken. It made me want to evaluate the broken relationship I have with my parents.

The Fixer is an engaging & thought-provoking read. Author Joseph Finder is a masterful storyteller. He knows how to write a great story that keeps readers eagerly turning the pages.

If you are looking for a satisfying and suspenseful read – grab a copy of The Fixer.

Orsayors-thoughts
Everything is on pause when Joseph Finder releases a book. Steven Tyler sings it best… “I don’t want to miss a thing.” That’s how I feel when I’m reading a book written by Joseph Finder. It’s hard for me to put his books down once I begin reading them – then I remember there’s a thing called SLEEP. But as soon as I open my eyes the next morning – I ‘m reaching for the book so I can continue where I left off.

I do have to add Rick Hoffman was not a likeable guy when I started reading this book. I really wanted to feel sorry for him but there were times I found myself screaming out loud – “You idiot!” There was definitely a dislike/like/almost love relationship with Rick Hoffman.

When you are reading a Joseph Finder book – Trust no one! Nothing is ever what it seems. That’s why Joseph Finder continues to one of my favorite authors.
