Review: The Mark – KiKi Swinson

Two for the money. . .
Identity thief Lauren Kelly thought she was safe. The millions she stole from her double-crossing accomplice and ex-lover Matt Connors bought a quiet upscale life for her, her unsuspecting new husband Drake, and their precious baby. But betrayal was just the beginning. . .

Three to throw down. . .
When both Drake and the baby go missing, it’s courtesy of a vengeful Matt. Lauren has less than twenty-four hours to give him back the money. She’s prepared for any payback—but nothing can keep this exchange from going all-the-way wrong. . .

No price is too high. . .
Now Lauren lives to hunt Matt down. She’ll strip away his fortune, work all his weaknesses—and destroy his every strength. But she’s heading straight into an insidious trap that could turn sweet revenge into mutually-assured destruction. . .

The Mark

Review

In this follow-up to The Score by KiKi Swinson, we find Lauren/Chantel trying to find her baby and her husband after they are both kidnapped by Matt her ex-lover/partner. I was on pins and needles while Chantel goes on an emotional roller coaster in her efforts to locate them and keep from getting arrested or even killed by Matt her ex and hustler who she has been on the run from since the score. If you haven’t read that book – don’t miss it.

Matt is one pissed off man because Lauren/Chantel has taken the money and run, and he wants not only the money back, but he also wants her back by his side. He will do anything to achieve that to include taking her husband and son so that Lauren/Chantel will follow him and that is exactly what she does and starts the rollercoaster ride that had me flipping pages until the end.

Ms. Swinson writes these stories like movie scripts. I am there when she is in the hospital, and I’m there in the back seat of the cab and going through all the emotions of the story. I love her writing. I hope to read more of her work in the future. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I highly suggest you read both this one and The Score. Buy this book; you will not be disappointed!
