Orsayor: What factors are important to you when choosing a book to read?
Kim: For the most part, I buy from authors who resonate with my spirit.
Orsayor: Who are your favorite authors and what is it that strikes you about their work?
Kim: I have so many favorite authors. My first favorite is Iyanla Vanzant. Her books nourish my soul and give me insight into the spiritual side of me. My second favorite author is Karrine Steffans. Listen you can say what you want about her, but her life is a living testimony to the fact that God can turn your mess into a message and your test into a testimony. My third favorite Author is Brian W. Smith. Brian can bring the reader into the story and make it seem as if you are one with the characters. His style of writing keeps you wanting more. I will throw one more on this list. Kimberla Lawson Roby, Honey! She hooked me with the series about Rev. Curtis Black.
Orsayor: If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?
Kim: The title would be, God Gave Triumph Over My Life’s Adversity
Orsayor: Where is your favorite place to read?
Kim: I like to read in my bed in my pj’s
Orsayor: What factors are important to you when choosing a book to read? Reviews? A Recommendation from a friend? The cover?
Kim: I don’t look at the reviews from the major websites, like Amazon, because you can pay a person to write a 5-star review for your book and sometimes the 1-star reviews are fake. I will ask a friend, or I will go to the Book Referees website to see if the book I want to buy has been reviewed. I trust the reviews from Book Referees.
Orsayor: Do you prefer eBooks, paperbacks or hardcover?
Kim: I prefer hardcover books, but I do have a lot of books on my Kindle.
Orsayor: Most people say the book is better than the movie. Is this true for you?
Kim: Sometimes, I will read the book before I watch the movie, that way if they left something out or they did the Hollywood thing and gave us the flare of dramatics I will know. I do think it depends on who produces the film.
Orsayor: If you were shipwrecked on a desert island what three books would you want with you?
Kim: OMG, just three. Ugh. lol. My Bible, my journal, The Audubon Park Murder by Brian W Smith. If I could sneak one more, it would be Tapping The Power within by Iyanla Vanzant.
