When The Characters Speak #9: Sister Surrogate – LaChelle Weaver

Oh, I know she didn’t just hang up in my face! Really? Sorry y’all. My older sister, Bridgette has really irked my last nerve. Too bad it’s morning because after dealing with her and her self-righteous attitude I need my usual to calm me down—a glass of merlot. Woo-sah! I’m so glad I’m in Atlanta and she’s in Charlotte because the way I feel right now, I would have paid her a visit and given her a piece of my mind in person. She can always offer her opinions about me, but when I give her a taste of her own medicine, she wants to cut me short. Typical.

By the way, I’m Ivy. Ivy Alston. I’m the middle sister between Bridgette and my younger sister, Savannah. And unlike them, I’m not tied down to a man or any crumb snatchers because ain’t nobody got time for that. I’m a celebrity make-up artist who has worked with big names in the entertainment industry like Tyler Perry and Jill Scott to name a few. It goes without saying that I absolutely love my job and the life I live. Not only do I travel the world, but I’ve also met some of the most influential people in the world all because of my keen eye for aesthetics. With my skills, I can turn an ugly duckling into a swan. I don’t mind tooting my own horn—I’m the business. Toot! Toot!

Of course, I’ve dated many within that realm as well because business and pleasure often crosses, and currently I’m dating someone in the NBA that I have the hots for—literally. Mmmm…talk about a Godiva dark chocolate drop. Whew! But, one thing I don’t do is relationships, and you’ll understand why.
