REVIEW

Alicia and Avery seemed to have the perfect relationship to those looking in from the outside, and appears to be so in love with one another. However, as the saying goes, “looks can be deceiving” and this story proves that we never truly know who a person is, and we all have a side that we try to keep hidden at all costs. Alicia grew up with parents that were never around much and would rather travel than stay home with their child. This caused Alicia to have a lot of issues later in life and constantly seek out that attention and love she failed to receive as a child. So when Avery came into the picture, Alicia doesn’t stand a chance. He sweeps her off her feet and make her feel the love she had been missing. Things were great in the beginning but as time goes by, Alicia starts to see a side of Avery that she never expected.

This is where the story got emotional for me, I was yelling at Alicia to get out while she could, and cursing her when she found a reason to go back and repeat that vicious cycle. The author’s writing style was great, in my opinion, because she really lets you see deep inside the character’s mind, and you’re able to feel every emotion, good and ugly. She takes you behind that curtain and lets you see what’s really going on and how her characters got to where they are at that point in time. This was a very emotional read, and reader’s in similar situations can benefit from reading this book.

I have to start off by saying that this is what a book is supposed to do to you!!! This book will have you thinking and feeling things as if you are one of the characters. Tumika Cain has a tremendous skill when it comes to making her characters real, life-like and full of raw emotion, you can just feel the character’s pain, joy and love pouring off these pages.

This has to be the best book I have read this year, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to read this exceptional story!! I gave this story 5 heartfelt stars and thinks it deserves so much more!! Amazing job Tumika Cain, I look forward to reading more of your stories!!

5-stars
