REVIEW

Blood Orange Soda, was an interesting read to say the least.  The author does an amazing job of voicing the main character “Darius” right from the start; I felt like I was experiencing a teenager’s point of view.
The plot and storyline were unique compared to other books I have read in the paranormal genre. I give two thumbs-up to the author for providing a creative and fresh perspective to a genre that has been done and redone too many times to count!! I liked that this story centered around a teenage boy thoughts, feelings and life versus the usual angst ridden female role normally seen in most stories.
Darius experiences a lot of problems that many teens face today, bullying, self-expression, family issues and girl problems just to name a few.
The setting and the idea of this story are what made it unique, in my opinion, and what made it stand out in my mind. Just imagine a future where vampires exist and everyone is given a choice to go through the change or take a magic red pill to remain “normal” The author tells  the story in a way that you think you know what the outcome will be, but you’re then thrown for a loop and left amazed. I feel the story was told in a way that was meant to be humorous and thought-provoking, with the added benefit of a paranormal twist. This will be a great addition to any teen/pre-teen collection, a book that will instill confidence and give them something they can relate to and take away from after reading.
