Ana Mae Futrell, was the older sister to Clayton, Josephine and Delcine. Over the years, the younger siblings had not kept in touch with her very much. Each moved on, left Drapersville, NC and went their separate ways. They did so with the intentions of never coming back to the little town they all hated. This all changed when they received the news of Ana Mae’s death. Clayton, along with his life partner, Archer Dahlgren-Futrell, Josephine and her husband Lester and Delcine and her husband Winslow is forced to return to North Carolina to attend Ana Mae’s funeral. Little did they know they would be stuck there for an undetermined period of time trying to fulfill their sister’s last wishes. Instead of leaving her possessions divided into a clear written document, Ana Mae Futrell sends her siblings on a search for clues to solve a puzzle. What they will discover comes as a major surprise to them all?

I want to begin with what I liked about this book. The general idea behind the story was a good one. The characters were very well-developed. I could hear the small-town dialect as each person spoke.  Lastly, the story wrapped up beautifully in the final 40 pages.

On the other hand, I found this to be a very slow read. It wasn’t bad writing, but it took too long to get to the outcome. I truly believed this story could’ve been more enjoyable had it moved along in a swifter manner. For this reason, I gave it three stars.
